Video Hua Xing Asian Market

It’s the Target of Asian groceries. The Meijer of all things occidental. There ain’t nothing like Hua Xing in all Washtenaw county. With 25,000 square feet of stuff that’s pickled, frozen or dehydrated, and tanks filled with live eels, turtles, crabs and, yes, Kermit’s soon-to-be devoured cousins, this Toyota dealership-turned asian market is the motherlode of unexpected culinary commodities.

There ain’t nothing like Hua Xing in all Washtenaw county. Really. Rub the giganto smiling Buddha’s belly, find the perfect wok, fill your lunch box with mysterious crunchy snacks from the orient or select which frog will end up in your tummy at the, well, do you call it a deli counter? This place is big. Former Toyata dealership big. Which just makes getting lost in the maze of aisles all the more fun. There’s shelf after shelf of stuff that’s pickled or dehydrated, racks of cool kitchen gadgets and freezers with 15 kinds of frozen dumplings. Best of all, in the former car repair shop area, you’ll find a line of blue tanks filled with live eels, turtles, crabs and, yes, Kermit’s soon-to-be devoured cousins. Got lotus root? Go to Hua Xing and you will.
