Universal Parametrics moves from autos to defense, looking for three new people
Concentrate, 8/6/2008
Universal Parametrics
has discovered the secret to growing in an economic downtown in Michigan – diversify your cliental beyond the automotive sector.
The Ann Arbor-based firm grabbed 10-15 percent growth in the last year, largely due to a shift from automotive to defense contracts. The firm now does design work for armored vehicles, such as tanks and troop transports.
And that work has led to three job openings at the company right now. Yes, as in, right this very minute! However, Universal Parametrics is having trouble filling the new spots because many of the people it needs live either on the coasts or in Chicago.
"We've been trying to hire but we've been having trouble attracting people to Michigan," says Greg Sorter, president of Universal Parametrics.
They're not letting that bump in the road stop them as they plans to aggressively seek out for the right people to hire.
Who knows maybe you're the one they're looking for.
