Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti have establishing themselves as exciting communities for music and musicians. Some would argue that we already have a scene and an industry is near at hand. Others claim that that's just local boosterism. So, what does it take to be recognized by the outside world?
Concentrate's monthly speaker series has invited a baker's dozen of local music makers and shakers to discuss where our music scene is at, where it's going, and how we get there.
Jeff Milo, music writer for Detroit's
Metro Times (and A2's
Current ) and
blogger, will lead a discussion with:
Jim Roll - singer, songwriter, recording engineer. He's been called an infulential shepherd for the local music scene.
Shelley Salant of Encore Records. Not only has she played in area bands, she actively books talent.
Matt Altruda - host of
Tree Town Sounds.
Patrick Elkins - Musician, author, performance artist, and puppeteer
Jim Fleming -
Fleming Artists

Wednesday, October 26th at Woodruff's in Ypsilanti's Depot Town from 5-7pm.

The event is free and open to
Concentrate's readers, but seating is limited so you must pre-register. The presentation will begin around 5:30 pm and run for an hour or so, with questions taken from those attending.
Refreshments will be provided. Discussion and networking before and afterward is greatly encouraged.
