The footings are in and the skeleton of
The Village Marketplace + Lofts
development is starting to rise in downtown Saline.
The 3-story building will have retail and residential space above a level of parking. The 63,000-square-foot structure is divided into 20,000 square feet of ground floor retail space and two levels of condos, all above an underground parking garage.
Village Marketplace's 32 condos range in size from 1,000 to 2,000 square feet and feature loft-like amenities, such as exposed brick and open floor plans. The condos are priced between $250,000 and $370,000 and each one comes with a balcony.
They also feature high-end finishings, like hardwood floors, granite countertops and "anything that would normally be an upgrade," says Carrie Carlisle, sales manager for The Village Marketplace + Lofts.
"We do have several reservations but in this market people would like to see the building built out more," Carlisle says.
The retail space is about 70-80 percent leased out to businesses like a fitness center and a health-food store. They will move in shortly after work wraps up in the spring of 2009.
The brownfield project replaces an old gas station and surface parking lot.
