Ann Arbor's Upland Green businesses ready to open soon

Get your knives and forks out because the restaurants in the Upland Green development are very close to serving food.

The project on the north side of Ann Arbor is ready to open its Panera Bread and Qdoba locations in the next few weeks. Panera is set to recieve customers on September 22 and Qdoba on October 1. The two restaurants will occupy most of the first-floor space in the development, leaving only 3,700 square feet remaining. But probably not for long.

"It's looks like we have an Indian restaurant that is very interested in it," says Bill Conlin, developer of Upland Green.

The mixed-use development overlooks Plymouth Road next to the northern entrance to U-M's North Campus. The businesses are situated beneath 20 new condos, four of which have been sold so far.

The loft-like residences feature balconies, hardwood floors, granite countertops and appliances. Parking is on surface lots adjacent to the building. The units range in size from 700 to 1,500 square feet and are priced between $135,000 and $325,000.

The Upland Green project sat idling unfinished for nearly a year before construction began again earlier this year. Ann Arbor-resident and attorney Bill Conlin lead the effort to breathe new life into the project.
