A brief history of the Concentrate crew:

Managing Editor: Jeff Meyers

Jeff was born in Miami, grew up in New York, schooled in Illinois then spent a decade kicking around the Pacific Northwest before landing in Michigan. Along with editing Concentrate, he is also the managing editor of its sister publication, Metromode and a film critic for Detroit's Metro Times. He's the guy no one agrees with.

Out west, Jeff was the Creative Director for StageDirect (an Internet start-up out of Portland, OR), a freelance writer, an adjunct instructor at Clark College and a theatrical director. Before that he spent 11 years working as a microbiologist. Who knows, someday he may actually find a real job. Jeff has written screenplays, stage plays and in 2000 was a finalist for the Oregon Book Awards for his collection of poetry Hereafter. He currently lives in Ann Arbor with his wife Arden and two sons, Nate and Sam. He likes eating pineapple and watching his sons polish off  a bowl of edamame in less than five minutes.

Managing Photographer: Dave Lewinski

David grew up in Metro Detroit.  He attended Wayne State University and the  Hallmark Institute of Photography (Turners Falls, MA) in order to gain a better understanding of what it takes to be a photographer. It has been his honor to assist photographers Balthazar Korab and Justin Maconochie.  Dave regularly contributes to Hour Detroit Magazine and has worked for MetroTimes, Real Detroit Weekly, Detroit Home, DBusiness along with his duties as managing photographer for Concentrate. David's style is best summed up in his own words; "My images strive to illustrate my conscious perception of the facts."

News Editor (Development, Innovation & Job News): Jon Zemke

Publisher: Newcombe Clark

Newcombe has long endured the self-expectation that he was suppose to do something important with his life. A crushing stone to push up a summit-less peak when you're as young and/or as dim as he. Subsequently he divides his time among numerous, distracting endeavors, all as diverse as they are clear across town from one another.

On top of his publishing duties at Concentrate (he brings the snacks and cleans up after editorial meetings), Newcombe also is a partner in a local commercial real estate firm, serves on a half-dozen boards, is a published playwrite, and is a yoga super-freak...Nameste. His daily impersonation of a the twelve-sided die played too hard on game night makes him wish for a 27 hour day or the expedited legalization of clones. Yet when all is said and done, he wouldn't trade his life in Ann Arbor for anything.
