Velocity Data Centers looks to reinvent data center facilities

Steve Jacobs is launching a business called Velocity Data Centers based on the idea that building and maintaining data centers doesn't have to be an expensive and complicated enterprise.

Data centers are known to be costly to build and maintain, and time consuming to construct. Velocity Data Centers looks to build data centers like a modular home with pre-engineered parts that belong to a mass produced system.

"Let's make it fast to build and much less expensive to build," Jacobs says.

Velocity Data Centers
commissioned its first prototype data center in Ann Arbor on Jackson Road last fall. It is now looking to use that an example of what can be built for large companies that are looking to bring their data management needs in house.

"The early interest has been phenomenal," Jacobs says. "We are looking at some strategic partnerships."
