Mobius Microsystems moves to Ann Arbor, plans to make quarterly hires

On the racetrack of business life Mobius Microsystems is taking its second lap. The company that makes microchips operate more efficiently, has just moved its Michigan facility from Detroit to Ann Arbor and plans to hire a new employee every quarter for the foreseeable future.

"We wanted to be as close to the university as possible for recruitment purposes," says Tunc Cenger, director of marketing for Mobius Microsystems.

The company got its start from research at the University of Michigan but incorporated in Detroit. After raising venture capital, it moved its headquarters out to California to be closer to its investors. However, the firm still maintains a Michigan office of about six people.

Mobius hopes to begin mass producing its products and generating revenue this year and next. Doing that will allow it to take in some of the engineering talent it sees everywhere in the Ann Arbor area.

"Ann Arbor is definitely a good place for us to find high-caliber engineers," Cenger says.
