Menlo Innovations adds 5 jobs, trades on success of other start-ups

Menlo Innovations is cashing in on investments past and present these days, with an expansion of its downtown-based workforce to show for it.

The Kerrytown-based custom software provider has hired four people in the last 60 days and is in the process of hiring a fifth this spring. The company now employs a staff of 40, including seven interns. More hires could be on line before the end of the year.

"Long-term successes like Accuri Cytometers (Menlo Innovations traded some of its work on the start-up's software for shares in the company) have fueled our growth," says Rich Sheridan, CEO of Menlo Innovations. "Also, helping start-ups build software is helping. Quite frankly, we see the economy getting better."

Menlo Innovations recorded flat growth during the recent recession. However, as the economy has begun to rebound, the firm's bottom line is one for the record books.

"It's already our best year ever and we're not even halfway through it," Sheridan says.
