And off to Europe he goes...

But wait, urban folk, afro-punk, singer-songwriter, poetry slammer BLAIR is playing in Ann Arbor for one night before catching that big 'ol jetliner.

Backed by a trumpet, clarinet and drums, this HBO Def Poetry Jam alumni, national slam champion, and seven time nominee for the Detroit Music Awards will be singing, strumming and wowing local audiences in Sh/'aut's intimate cabaret space. It's all in celebration of his forthcoming CD, The Line*.

Given the dude's resume, it promises to be a one-of-a-kind experience. BLAIR is a monologist, singer, songwriter, teacher, activist, and poet.

He has toured the United States extensively and performed in South Africa, Germany and at New York's historic CBGBs and The Knitting Factory. He's been a regular feature on Detroit-area stages, most notably performing with a string section at the home of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.

Bet your CV isn't as impressive.

Tickets are $10 and the Sh/'aut Cabaret is located at 317 Braun Court across the street from Ann Arbor's Kerrytown Market.

* full disclosure: Repeatable Silence Records is releasing Blair's debut album. It is owned by Concentrate's Photography Editor Dave Lewinski.
