Ann Arbor to consider approving Maple Cove mixed-use project on city's northwest side
Concentrate, 8/6/2008
Mixed-use building isn't just for downtowns any more. The Ann Arbor City Council will consider approving plans for the Maple Cove development on the city's northwest side Thursday evening. The project calls for a mix of residential and commercial spaces.
The developer wants to demolish the existing buildings on the northwest corner of the Maple Road and Miller Avenue intersection to make room for three, 3-story buildings on the 3.8-acre site. Each of the buildings will have underground parking, totaling 52 spaces. Another 148 surface-lot spaces are planned for around the buildings.
Two 27,300-square-foot buildings will face Maple while a third 11,000-square-foot building will face Miller. Medical office space will go on the first two floors while residential spaces will occupy the third floor.
The land had previously been zoned for single-family housing but was never built out to its full potential.
