Ypsilanti's leaders want to raze the old so they will have a better shot of building new on the Water Street acreage. City officials are proposing demoing the old buildings on the 38 acres to make the land overlooking the Huron River more appealing to a developer.

PMA hopes to break ground on Tierra Place this summer

Downtown Ann Arbor is about to get a little denser when PMA Consultants starts building its new home, Tierra Place. The 8-story mid-rise will include space for retail, commercial and residential uses interspersed with a bevy of environmentally friendly features. Work is set to begin in July and wrap up within one year.

The Friends of the Ypsilanti Freighthouse hopes its train will come in one day soon. The small group of dedicated local residents working to restore the landmark building recently raised $3,000 to move the restoration along and hopes to get even more soon.
